Year 7 and Marist Cricket
There were some great results on the cricket field this week, with our Marist Cricketers and Year 7 Cricketers winning their respective matches.
CCS vs Marcellin
On Monday, we drove to Bulleen to face-off in the annual Bro. Crispin match-up with Marcellin College.
Batting first, we made 7/181 with Sam Smith and Tom Morrison leading the way with 45 and 35 respectively.
In reply, we had the hosts 6/37 after 16 overs with Morrison (3/10) and Hurley (2/16) the chief wicket-takers, before a defiant 7th wicket partnership pushed the Marcellin total past 100. Archer McGuiness (2/18 off 10) and Seb Pendergast (2/9) were able to clean up the tail for 112.
A marvelous result, given we had six debutants in the side.
CCS vs Wonthaggi and Trafalgar
Yesterday, our Year 7s travelled to Traralgon for the SSV Gippsland Cricket finals.
We played Wonthaggi SC in the semi-final, winning by 9 wickets.
Wonthaggi 8/70 (Annear 3/3, Grattan 2/16).
CCS 1/70 (Eastham 31, Wrigglesworth 27*).
We then played Trafalgar HS in the final.
Batting first, Asher Eastham again led the way with 48*, before we followed up with a terrific bowling performance to restrict Trafalgar to 59.
CCS 4/99 (Eastham 48*, Annear 13, Wright 12).
Trafalgar HS 10/59 (Eastham 2/0, Grattan 2/12, Stobie 1/4).
The Year 7 team now progresses on to SSV State Quarter Finals at Yarragon on November 21.
