The Vin Hall Award
Vin is a past teacher and Deputy Principal at St Pats. He was an inspirational teacher, friend and coach who taught at CCS for 42 years and many of his past students still come back to visit him. He has been a wonderful mentor for teachers as well.
Vin was a founding teacher of Champagnat House when we moved to the vertical house system, and we think he is a true example of St Marcellin Champagnat’s spirit. A great Marist!
The Vin Hall award is an award we give in Champagnat House on the feast day of St Marcellin Champagnat for the student in our house who best represents the Champagnat values.
These are:
- Contribution to the Champagnat community,
- Humility,
- Hard work,
- Participation,
- Kindness and
- Approachability
Many students from years 7- 12 were contenders for the award having been nominated by their peers.
The person nominated showed the following attributes:
- He is a very hard worker
- He is thoughtful about others
- He showed really good leadership qualities.
- He participated in many activities, even leading groups.
- He is always friendly, supportive and he has a good sense of humour.
- He has a solid relationship with his mates in class and around the school.
- He is actively involved in his sport.
- He stepped in as leader of Champagnat House and did an exceptional job.
It gives me great pleasure to announce that this year’s very deserving recipient of the Vin Hall award is Dane Nicholls from Year 9.
