SSV Soccer – Year 7 & 8 Boys
Game 1 vs Sale College:
Our first game proved to be a tightly contested affair, with both teams creating plenty of chances. Sale moved ahead 1-0, however, a handball penalty inside our 30-yard box saw Oliver Austin step up to the mark to equalise 1-1, with the referee calling time soon after.
Result: CCS 1-1 Sale College
Game 2 vs Lavalla Catholic College:
Another hard fought out contest was played out in our second game, this time against our rivals, Lavalla Catholic College. Our defence got off to a good start, as we kept our opponents scoreless for an extended period. Not long after however, Lavalla put their first into the back of the net. Our defence stayed strong and fought until the end, but unfortunately it was Lavalla taking home the chocolates quite comfortably in the end.
Result: CCS 0-7 Lavalla
Game 3 vs Traralgon Secondary College:
After a well-earned break between games, our Year 7 & 8 side had some confidence heading into our last match of the day. CCS were on the back foot early, with some fancy footwork from the Traralgon College midfielders making like difficult for our centre backs and goal-keeper. Despite this, we managed to keep a clean sheet in the first half, and even got on the scoresheet ourselves, as Tom Aeschlimann capitalised on a cross from Oliver Austin from a set-piece corner opportunity. We entered the main break with a 1-0 lead.
Fatigue set in for the second half in this match as TC equalised, then continued to add to their total late in the game. Our boys yet again put up a great fight but Traralgon College proved too strong in the end.
Result: CCS 1-4 Traralgon College
A great day in tough conditions was had, in what was an enjoyable and fun experience for our Year 7/8 Soccer team. A big thanks to Sale United for hosting, and also a massive thank you to Mr Freeman for coaching and guiding the boys through the day
