SSV Basketball – Year 8
Both the Boys & Girls Year 8 Basketball teams are through to State Finals for the second year in a row, defeating all opponents at the recent School Sport Victoria Basketball Finals in Traralgon.
The Boys team were dominant all day, with 38 points being the closest margin of victory across their three games:
def. Mary McKillop 62-17 (Hrehoresen 17, Schuback 17)
def. Lowanna 58-16 (Schuback 15, Burgiel 14, Hrehoresen 12)
def. Nagle 52-14 (Schuback 16, Hrehoresen 13, Gravener 8)
Similarly, our Girls team progressed through relatively untroubled in their three matches. While the girls trailed Lowanna College 17 to 18, the girls came out of a smart time-out and went on a 14-0 run to claim back momentum.
def. Foster SC 42-13 (Boulter 12, Hennig 12, Waugh 10)
def. Lowanna 34-23 (Ronchi 13, Boulter 8)
def. Lakes Entrance 58-20 (Hennig 17, Boulter 12)
Both teams will now play at the Melbourne Sports and Aquatic Centre (MSAC) on the 19th (Boys) and 20th (Girls) of November. We wish them the best of luck in their preparations.
