SSV AFL Results
Senior Girls AFL
Wednesday the 9th of August saw two dozen Year 11 and 12 footballers travel to Elgar Park in Mont Albert North to take on the State’s best at the SSV State Quarter Finals. CCS had proven they were a good side in the preliminary rounds, but we came up against a strong outfit in Box Hill Senior Secondary College, who rarely gave us a chance to gain any momentum, outscoring us in each quarter to run away winners 12.13.85 (Box Hill) to 3.4.22 (CCS).
Best players on the day were Kate Ronchi, Jemma Birss, Lily Cocoran, Zali Gallagher, Ruby Goldsmith, Ash McDonough and Jordyn Tilley.
Goals were kicked by Hannah Abdallah, Jordyn Tilley and Jemma Birss.
Year 7 Boys AFL
Friday the 11th of August saw the College fourth team play off at the SSV State AFL Quarter Final for the week. Our Year 7 Boys team, after victories at division and region levels, travelled to Elgar Park as one of the best eight teams in the state. We would play Rowville in our first match of the day. We began well, with Xavier Adam slotting the first goal of the match after some great transition play from half back. From there however, Rowville had the better of the first half, making the most of their chances to go up 42-8 at half time. CCS finished the match with a great last quarter, with three goals ensuring we left the field with our heads held high. While we would lose the match 4.5.29 to 10.7.67, there was definitely plenty to take form the match.
Best players for CCS were: Hunter Wynd, Max Cox, Lachy Rand, Mitch House, Xavier Adam & Archie Domaille.
Goals were kicked by: Xavier Adam, Mitch House, Max Cox & Hunter Wynd.
