Kayla Pratt competes at the Australian Age Swimming Championships
Catholic College Sale student Kayla Pratt recently returned from swimming in the Australian Age Swimming Championships held on the Gold Coast from 5th -12th of April, 2021 after some doubt the event would go ahead with COVID lockdown restrictions in the greater Brisbane area just a week before.
Representing Traralgon Swimming Club in the 50m freestyle and 100m freestyle Kayla finished ranked 39th for 50 free and 45th for 100 freestyle for her age group. Significantly improving her national ranking.
“I was so happy to get my times for Nationals and getting the opportunity to compete after an uncertain year with COVID restrictions preventing swimmers from training in the pool. During lockdown I kept busy with running, band exercises and zoom yoga. I even re educated one of our horses and I am now taking her to pony club and hope to compete her soon.
Thankyou to my coaches and parents for helping me achieve my goals. It was an amazing experience and I am looking forward to the coming season.”
