CCS Success at Yarram Eisteddfod
It’s wonderful to see such a range of talented performers at the Yarram Eisteddfod, showcasing their skills and dedication across various vocal and instrumental categories. Here’s a summary of the notable achievements from each day:
Night One:
- Hannah Van Deventer: 1st place in Vocal Solo 16 years and under with “Who’s Loving You.”
- Aiden Ryan: Honorable mention in Vocal Solo 14 years and under with “Over the Rainbow.”
- Aiden Ryan: 1st place in Vocal Solo 15 years and under with “Can You Feel the Love Tonight.”
Night Two:
- Hannah Van Deventer: 1st place in Vocal Solo 18 years and under with a jazz rendition of “Crazy.”
- Hannah Van Deventer: 1st place in Yarram Apex Vocal Solo Open with “Just Around the Corner.”
- Aiden Ryan: 2nd place in Yarram Apex Vocal Solo Open with “Pure Imagination.”
Special Awards:
- Aiden Ryan: “Award for the Most Promising Vocalist.”
- Hannah Van Deventer: “Special Adjudicator’s Choice Scholarship” award.
Day Three:
- Male Vocals Crew: 3rd place in Secondary School Choir (yrs 7-12) with “If I Ever Fall in Love Again” and “In the Still Of The Night.”
- Sion Singers Choir: Honorable mention in Secondary School Choir with “Rolling in the Deep” and “This is Me.”
- CCS Show Choir: 2nd place in Choral/Vocal Ensemble – Open with “Say Something” and “Royals.”
Day Four:
- 5SCORE: made up of Emily Nock (Lead Vox and Bass), Oliver Dyer (Guitar), Olivia Collins (Drums) and a last minute inclusion Hannah Van Deventer (Guitar) 2nd place in Secondary School Rock Band section with “Since You’ve Been Gone” and “Crazy.”
- MIX’d: made up of Hannah Van Deventer (Lead Vox and Guitar), James Arnup (Keys), Jimmy Love (Drums), Stella Whitford (Bass), and substitute member Lachlan Marsh (Lead Guitar) 3rd place in Secondary School Rock Band section with “Don’t Stop Believing” and “Torn.”
- Junior Rock Band: made up of Izzy Wright (lead vox), Lachlan Marsh (Guitar), Zakyrah Duncis (Bass), Nathan Adams (Drums) and substitue member Zanelle Van De Vyver (Guitar) did not place but delivered strong performances with “Want You Back” and “Eye of the Tiger.”
Day Five:
- Matilda Cleland: 2nd place in Brass or Woodwind solo 15 years and under, and Intermediate Instrumental Championship 15 years and under.
- Jasmine Lazzaro: Honorable Mention in Orchestral String Solo 15 years and under.
Day Six:
- Kaitlyn Worcester: 3rd place in Instrumental Solo Open section.
- Matilda Cleland: 2nd place in Instrumental Jazz/popular Solo Open.
- String Ensemble: 3rd place, Concert Band and Guitar Ensemble both received Honorable Mentions.
The performers have truly demonstrated their dedication, hard work, and exceptional talent. Congratulations to all participants, and special thanks to the teachers and organizers who supported and guided them. It’s evident that the performers represented their school with pride and made their mark at the Yarram Eisteddfod.
